The woman was driving a 2013 Honda Pilot on William Floyd Parkway just after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, when she was pulled over for a traffic violation near Roeneck Court, Suffolk County Police said.
Following a sobriety test, The Safe-T Team determined that the driver was intoxicated, and arrested her.
Police said the four children were ages 13 to less than 1 year old.
Martha Acostamaldonado, age 36, of Center Moriches, was charged with:
- Driving while intoxicated,
- Aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger 15 years old or younger (Leandra’s Law),
- Four counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
The children were released to the custody of a family member and the vehicle was impounded.
Acostamaldonado was held overnight at the Suffolk County PD Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday, Aug. 24.
